Spituk to Stok Trek | Trekking Tour in Ladakh, Himalayas
One of the most beautiful and straightforward treks in Ladakh, the Spituk Stok Trek crosses the breathtaking Stok La at 4900 meters and is a part of the unexplored Markha Valley Trek in the Ladakh region. On the way to the secluded Rumbak settlement, one may take in the expansive vista of the fabled Indus valley. By providing access to the Stok Palace museum, which features a chronicle of the history of various Ladakhi emperors, the ramp to Stok La also encourages hikers to reflect on Ladakh’s past.
For those looking for a leisurely walk, the Spituk Stok Trek offers a unique experience. The trail genuinely aims to capture a taste of Ladakh despite its lack of punctuality, following a diverse scenery where the arid hills gradually blend with greenery as it moves into the Zingchen valley and is crossed by the River Rumbak.
The Rumbak town, which is situated along the path of the challenging Stok Kangri Trek, is set in the middle of snowcapped mountains and displays the vibrant and untamed nature that is dotted with flora and animals. The views of Blue Sheep, Argali, and if you’re lucky, a Tibetan wolf, and if you’re lucky, a snow leopard, make strolling and taking in the atmosphere more than just a treasure hunt. Nonetheless Rumbak is also an abode of various migratory birds and thus offering some serious birding.
