A Place of Backwaters, Beaches and Lagoons

Alleppey, formally known as Alappuzha, is renowned for its system of lagoons and canals with picturesque backwaters and houseboats that provide overnight accommodations. During the dry season, Alleppey's coastline, which is in the southern region of Kerala, has some of the best beaches for water sports. When combined with other stunning locations in Kerala like Munnar and Thekkady, Alleppey is frequently thought of as a wonderful honeymoon or family getaway destination.

The interconnected system of canal backwaters surrounded by palm trees in Alleppey draws many visitors from around the globe. A sizable portion of Allapuzha is occupied by Kuttanad, often known as the "Rice Bowl of Kerala," which is home to backwaters, lakes, and verdant rice fields.

Staying at Alleppey is fantastic because there are many of houseboats, homestays, and revitalising Ayurvedic resorts available. The houseboats go through the tranquil backwaters of Kerala, where you may see scenes of verdant rice fields, participate in choir-making events, and experience local life. Moreover, Alleppey is home to several well-known temples, including Mullakkal Temple and Chettikulangara Devi Temple.

To add a bit of authenticity to your trip to Allepey, sip some toddy (palm wine) at a local toddy shop and catch a traditional snake boat racing on Punnamada Lake during the months of August and September.
