Gokarna - Land of palm trees, blue seas and golden sands
Beach lovers and hippies are drawn to Gokarna, a Hindu pilgrimage town in Karnataka, because of its immaculate beaches and stunning scenery. Gokarna, which is located on the Karwar coast, draws millions of visitors each year who come here seeking serenity and leisure. The beaches outside of town, such as Kudle Beach and Om Beach, offer a distinct experience from town life.
The majority of international visitors are scattered throughout palm-fringed beaches, with very few Indians in sight. Gokarna is not a typical tourist destination. Everything on the beaches moves at a leisurely pace, making them ideal for a leisurely vacation. Gokarna is a 'one of a kind' location in the nation, surrounded by clean beaches, palm and coconut trees, and the ocean.
Best time to visit Gokarna
When the humidity is at its lowest, which is from October to March, is unquestionably the ideal time to visit Gokarna. The months of November through February are particularly congested with visitors. The off-season, or rainy season, is not the best time to visit the beaches because they are all run-down and gloomy and have few food options. The town's temples come alive during the festivals of Ganesh Chaturthi and Shivratri.
How to Reach Gokarna
All of Karnataka's main cities have good train and road connections to Gokarna. The closest airport is 150 km away in Dabolim, Goa. The distance between the Gokarna train station and the city centre is 10 kilometres. There are bus services from Goa and Bangalore as well.

Buried deep in the bosom of nature on the beach, Mirjan Fort in Gokarna is a great place to go on holiday. On the banks of the Aghanashini River, Mirjan Fort stands as a majestic reminder of our glorious history. This 4.1-hectare fort from the 16th century, located around 22 kilometers from Gokarna, is rich in history and cultural treasures. But there are many stories about the fort’s modest (or not so modest) origins.

The Atmalinga is a six-foot-tall Shiva Linga that is revered in this temple. It is a quintessential illustration of the splendour of Dravidian architecture, constructed with white granite. The primary deity is represented by a standing Lord Shiva idol made of carved stone that dates back 1500 years.
