Dwarka, which is situated in Gujarat on the westernmost point of the Saurashtra peninsula, is thought to be the capital of Lord Krishna's realm. Devbhoomi Dwarka is proud to be the only city that is included in both the Sapta Puris (seven sacred cities) and Char Dham (four primary holy spots) stated in the Hindu faith. One of the twelve Jyotirlingas, the Nageshwar Jyotirlinga Temple, is situated in Dwarka, which was a part of the ancient kingdom of Krishna. Seashores and the beach are further tourist attractions.

According to legend, the city was once swallowed by the sea, however new discoveries show that a city did previously exist here. Dwar, which means "door," and ka, which means "moksha," which means the "door to salvation," make up the name Dwarka.

Dwarka History

It is believed that traces of human habitation have existed in Dwarka since the year 200 AD. The sacred city of Dwarka is thought to have served as Gujarat's first capital in addition to being mentioned honourably in the Hindu epic Mahabharat.

In addition to the Hindu mythological writings that describe Dwarka as Lord Krishna's homeland, historical records include archaeological evidence dating back to the 1400s. The current Dwarkadhish temple is thought to have been constructed in the 1500s.

Nonetheless, the region's prehistory makes it clear that Dwarka was formerly submerged land that was later excavated to become what it is now. It is believed that Bet/Beyt Dwarka in the area is an important Late Harappan historical site.

Culture of Dwarka

The religious significance of Dwarka is deeply ingrained in its culture. The largest Hindu holiday here is Krishna Janmastami, which commemorates the birth of Lord Krishna. The Hindu month of Shravan is when it is observed. There are many other festivals including Dussehra, Holi, and Diwali.

Gujarati is the most widely spoken language in Dwarka, however there are also Hindi and English dialects. The region's food is another gem of its culture. Gujarati tastes are served alongside regional delicacies and dietary staples in the unwaveringly vegetarian city of Dwarka.
