Make 2026 an exciting year—pun intended! We are hinting at discovering the nation’s breathtaking animals, national parks, and biodiversity. There is much to discover, even though most tourists do not consider India to be a wildlife destination. To help you have an amazing 2026, we have selected 12 Indian national parks that you can bookmark for each month of the upcoming year.

Kaziranga National Park in Assam is a must-see adventure in and of itself. The largest rhino species in the world, the one-horned rhinoceros, is found there. In addition to India, areas of Nepal are home to the endangered species.

Asiatic elephants, Bengal tigers, huge hornbills, and many other amazing species can be found in Uttarakhand’s Corbett, India’s first national park. It is barely a five-hour journey from Delhi. Another jewel located in the verdant state of Karnataka is Nagarhole. It is a treasure for environment lovers, situated between the Nilgiri Mountains of Tamil Nadu and the Mysuru plateau. There is much to see and discover here, including Asiatic elephants, leopards, and tigers.
If you are interested in wildlife, you should also visit Rajasthan’s Ranthambore. The national park attracts many foreign visitors and is home to some of India’s most well-known tigers and tigresses. In addition to the big cats, Kahna is well-known for its barasingha population, which the government is working to save from extinction. The indigenous people that formerly inhabited the forests and now live on their outskirts encircle Kanha as well. It’s also a fantastic cultural experience.
A region in the Lakhimpur Kheri District of Uttar Pradesh was designated as a sanctuary in 1958 due to the presence of a sizable population of the uncommon and endangered Swamp Deer, also known as Barasingha.
Originally known as Sonaripur Sanctuary, this region was designated as Dudhwa National Park in 1977 and then became a Tiger Reserve in 1988. With a buffer area of roughly 190 square kilometres, the National Park spans approximately 490 square kilometres. Some of the most endangered animal and bird species, including the rhinoceros, tiger, leopard, hispid hare, and Bengal Florican, can be found in Dudhwa National Park, which is overrun by 3 to 6 m long elephant grass during the monsoon season. The survival of the latter two species indicates the health of Dudhwa’s ecosystem, since they have been wiped out practically everywhere else in India.
Visit Gir National Park in Gujarat to witness the big Asiatic lions in their native environment. During the busiest time of year, many safaris are held here, and the majority of visitors return having seen lions!
