Lal Tibba Scenic Point Mussoorie

Lal Tibba Scenic Point Mussoorie (Entry Fee, Timings, Images)

About 6 km from Mussoorie, on the summit of Depot Hill in Landour, is a well-known vantage point called Lal Tibba. Lal Tibba is one of the most beautiful vantage points in the area because it is the highest point. Gaining 2,275 meters (7,164 feet) in elevation, Lal Tibba provides stunning views of Badrinath’s Nilkantha peak (6,596 meters), Kedarnath peak (6,940 meters), and the Banderpoonch group of three peaks, the highest of which is 6,316 meters. It is also a well-liked spot for sunrises and sunsets.

Lal Tibba has been a popular cantonment/hill station for a long time because it was used as a military recovery station and a summer retreat during the British Raj. The Indian Military Services now occupy it. La Tibba, a tiny terrace, offers stunning views of the Tibet border. There are remnants of British architecture and a tranquil setting.

Things To See at Lal Tibba

  • The main attraction at Lal Tibba would be the unspoiled view of the Himalayan ranges, which include summits like the three Banderpoonch peaks, which reach beyond 6000 meters, the Badrinath (Nilkantha) peak (6,596 meters), and the Kedarnath peak (6,940 meters).
  • Near Char Dukan, a well-known Landour tourist café, one can readily observe a pure white line of ranges.
  • On a clear day, views of the Swargarohini (6,252 meters) and Chaukhamba (7,138 meters) massifs can be seen from a 20-foot-tall telescope that the Japanese government installed atop a cliff. You could even be able to see 7,816-meter-tall Nanda Devi, the nation’s second-highest peak!
  • There are few spectacular hikes you can undertake in the region, some of which include Pepperpot Mountain and Deo Tibba (7,690 feet), a short hike from Tehri road.

How To Reach Lal Tibba

Lal Tibba is only 6 km from Mussoorie, which has good road access to Dehradun (about 40 km away), making the drive take around an hour and a half. Delhi is three hundred km distant. Dehradun has the closest train station (38 kilometres away), and the Jolly Grant Airport (65 miles away) is also in Dehradun.

It is five kilometres away from Mussoorie. Due to the narrow roads leading to Lal Tibba, it is preferable to travel from Mussoorie in a private taxi.

Lal Tibba Weather & Best Time to Visit

At about 7,500 feet, the hill station of Landour climbs about a thousand feet above Mussoorie. Lal Tibba is somewhat less busy than its well-known sibling, and the best time to come is from March to July, when the sky is clear. Summertime brings pleasant weather. The months of November through February are quite cold, with about twice as much snowfall as Mussoorie. Because of the overcast weather, it is difficult to see the mountain peaks, which are the major attraction of your trip, during the rainy and winter seasons.

Visit the scenic Lal Tibba either at the time of sunrise or sunset. You can spend a quiet evening soaking in the chilly hilly breeze all the while staring at amazing panoramas and sipping on your hot coffee!
