One of the most visited tourist destinations and picnic spots in Mussoorie is Kempty Falls, which is situated in the Ram Gaon neighbourhood of Tehri Garhwal, on the route connecting Dehradun and Mussoorie highways. Nestled at an elevation of around 4500 feet above sea level, Kempty Falls is surrounded by towering mountain cliffs. A great place to swim and take a bath is the pond that forms at the base of the falls.

The words “camp and tea” are used to refer to the grand tea parties that were historically held here in the evenings, which eventually gave rise to the localised name Kempty Falls. Because of its picturesque surroundings and allure, John Mekinan created it as a picnic spot. It splits into two main falls and provides a breathtaking view of a stream of water tumbling down from a considerable height. The permanent Kempty waterfall is popular with tourists as a picnic location and is packed nearly all year round.
