On your Coorg tour, you should stop by Chiklihole Reservoir, which is situated halfway between Madikeri and Kushalnagar. Madikeri and Kushalnagar are both about 15 miles away. Nanjarayapattana is the town closest to the reservoir.
The reservoir was constructed on one of the Cauvery River’s tributaries. Even though it is not as well-known as other Coorg tourist destinations, visitors can nevertheless enjoy some enjoyable moments there. This is the spot to go if you want some peace and isolation away from the crowds. You are presented with picturesque splendour that is worth photographing.
June through March is the ideal time of year to visit the Chiklihole dam. In addition to the lovely weather, the monsoon and winter seasons are ideal because the dam contains more water at these times.
Chiklihole Reservoir is a great place for family vacations because it’s not just a sanctuary for nature lovers but also a great place to have a picnic. It is not to be missed to take in the magnificent sunset views from the reservoir. There are excellent picture opportunities in the neighbourhood. But since there are no stores in the area, it is best to have the necessities with you.
Coorg has excellent access to the towns and cities of Karnataka. The closest airports are at Mangalore and Mysore, which are 166 and 116 km away, respectively. To go to the reservoir from there, one can choose between buses and private taxis. The closest train station is in Mysore, and easy ways to get around are by state bus and rental automobile. Private taxis are available for visitors from Kushalnagar, Siddapur, or Suntikoppa, as public transportation does not reach Chiklihole Reservoir.
There is no entry fee to visit Chiklihole Reservoir. The Timings of the reservoir are from 8 in the morning to 5 in the evening.
