Yarab Tso Lake, Nubra Valley | The Hidden Lake
The most well-kept secret in Ladakh is the sacred Yarab Tso lake, often known as “the hidden lake”. Situated in the Leh Ladakh region, around 15 kilometers from Diksit, close to Sumur Village, this stunning lake is only accessible by a 20-minute hike upwards.
The residents of the Nubra Valley hold Yarab Tso in the highest regard as one of the most sacred and elevated lakes in the area. Washing your feet or attempting to swim in this captivating lake is not recommended. Just enjoy the sight of colorful prayer flags flying around the glistening azure water, sit on the rocks, breathe in the pure mountain air, and feel the sense of peace it brings.
How to Reach Yarab Tso
The Yarab Tso Lake can only be reached on foot, hiking for about 20 minutes from the Panamik Village near Sumur. To reach Panamik, hire a local taxi from either Leh or Ladakh.
