The mount was flattened and reduced to half its original size since it was unable to support his weight. He assured Yaaku that he would meet him on his way back to Lanka after learning enough about the plant.
But he lost a lot of his important time fighting a demon called “Kalnemi” on the way back, who attempted to trick him. He decided to take the quickest way and forego seeing Sage in order to arrive in Lanka on time. Sage was disappointed and considered meeting him face-to-face to explain why the pledge had been broken.
An idol of Hanuman emerged on the hill by itself as he departed. Yaaku constructed a temple there in remembrance of the Lord’s presence. The monkeys who frequent the shrine are thought to be Lord Hanuman’s descendants, and it is still thought that the temple has Hanuman’s footprints.
