Bhairavnath Temple, a revered location in Vaishno Devi, is located 5 km from Ardhkuwari, 5 km from Vaishno Devi Temple, and 17 km from Katra Railway Station. Situated on the route from Katra to Vaishno Devi Temple, it is an essential destination for those traveling to Vaishno Devi.

A trip to Vaishno Devi, Katra wouldn’t be complete without a stop at Bhairavnath Mandir. Built at the location where Baba Bhairavnath is thought to have passed away, the cave temple of Bhairavnath is devoted to him. The temple is located at an elevation of 2017 meters on the nearby hill of Trikuta. One of the main attractions at Bhairon Temple is a havan kund, whose ashes are revered.

Legend has it that Vaishno Devi was a devoted follower of Lord Vishnu who would often meditate in a cave. According to legend, Bhairon Nath fell deeply in love with the young Vaishno Devi after seeing her at an agricultural fair. In order to evade his sexual approaches, Vaishno Devi fled into the Trikuta hills. Later, in a cave, she took on the persona of Mahakali and used her sword to strike off his head. His head fell farther up the mountain, where a temple dedicated to Bhairon Nath still stands, while his body was restrained at the cave’s mouth. After that, Bhairo expressed regret and begged for pardon. The goddess granted him forgiveness and stated that a visit to Vaishno Devi would not be complete without seeing the Bhairav Temple

The Vaishno Devi Yatra’s climax, the Bhairavnath temple, is a strenuous 5-kilometer drive from the Bhavan. The elderly should not attempt the strenuous one-hour walk from Vaishno Devi Mandir to Bhairavnath Mandir. The ropeway can cover it in five minutes. The air-conditioned cable vehicle is only available in one direction and can accommodate 45 passengers at once. The ropeway offers a breathtaking aerial perspective of Bhairo Valley. For individuals who are unable to ascend the steep stairs, ponies are also available for the up-down trip.
