In Srinagar’s Budgam district is a lesser-known hill station called Doodhpathri. It is easily accessible, being just 43 kilometers away from the heart of Srinagar city. It covers a huge region with verdant grasslands, waterways, and waterfalls. Thus, it’s a popular tourist destination that makes sense.
Although the meadow is the first place you encounter, there are numerous more geographical characteristics visible as you go around the terrain. The greatest time to go is in the summer, when the weather is perfect and the scenery is at its peak. Doodhpathri is gaining popularity as a place to escape the crowds in Gulmarg and enjoy breathtaking scenery instead. Some refer to it as India’s version of Switzerland because of its breathtaking beauty.
Doodhpathri Waterfall
Eight kilometers from the main meadow is the little-known Doodhpathri waterfall. Locals can transport you to the waterfalls by renting out ponies. You can hike to the falls without a pony in order to take pictures and enjoy the breathtaking views of the water.
Shaliganga River
The valley’s name originates from the swift waters of the Shaliganga river, making it an essential destination. To get to the river, you can take a quick 2- to 3-kilometer walk from the meadows. Enjoying a picnic or relaxing by the riverside with loved ones is the best thing to do.
Tangnar
Tangnar is a collection of valleys and hills with a traditional Doodhpathri-style deodar tree line. Paying attention to the surrounding landscape will reveal that it obstructs Doodhpathri. Some come here for the peace and quiet, as it is far more tranquil than the meadows.
