Sudama Setu, Dwarka – Timings, Entry Fee, Best Time to Visit

Sudama Setu is a magnificent hanging bridge situated on the Gomati River close to the Dwarkadhish Temple in Dwarka, Gujarat, three kilometers from Dwarka Railway Station. It is a well-liked destination in Dwarka that is included in Gujarat tour packages.

Sudama Setu, named for Lord Krishna’s childhood buddy Sudama, links Panchnad or Panchkui Tirth on the island southeast of mainland Dwarka with Dwarkadhish Mandir. The bridge has significant religious and archaeological value because the island is home to five Panchkui, or sweet water wells, which are connected to the five Pandava brothers of Mahabharata.

In order to increase island tourism, the bridge was suggested in 2005. Before the bridge was built, boats crossed the Gomti River. Permission was required to build the bridge because Jagat Mandir is a protected site under the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). Although the bridge’s groundbreaking ceremony took place in 2011, the work was delayed because ASI Delhi did not provide the permit until 2013. In 2016, the bridge was finished.

The bridge was constructed for INR 7.42 crore by Reliance Industries Limited in partnership with the Gujarat Pavitra Yatradham Vikas Board and the Gujarat Tourism Department. The bridge can accommodate 25,000 to 30,000 pedestrians per hour and is 166 meters long and 4.2 meters wide. Usha Martin Limited supplied the 40mm locked coil cable ropes used to build the bridge.

The Gomti River, the Arabian Sea, and the Dwarkadish Temple are all beautifully seen from the bridge. During the winter, thrilling activities like camel rides and ATV bike rides are offered across the bridge.
