The Attukal Waterfalls swell over the hills somewhere between Pallivasal and Munnar, displaying their tumbling power to everyone who sees them. Often referred to as Attukad Waterfalls, the force with which the water cascades over the rocks causes the froth to turn them white. Because of the constant erosion that moulds them, the rocks themselves are fairly smooth.
You can see the full picture of this natural phenomena because the cascades are only a little distance apart in altitude. When the neighbouring hills turn green due to the vegetation during the monsoon and winter, the scene appears very striking.
Due to the abundance of stunning hiking paths, the area surrounding the falls is also very popular with hikers. You can smell the unique scent of the medicinal plants that grow on each side of Attukal Waterfalls even while you look at the falls from the other side of the street. The location is perfect for camping with friends and having a picnic with family.
To ensure that your vacation is as enjoyable as possible, you should be informed of the essential amenities surrounding the falls:
1. To fully observe and enjoy these revitalising waterfalls, we advise allocating an hour or two.
2. Because the breeze carries a lot of mist from the falls, camera lenses sometimes become cloudy. Choose to only take photos with your phone or bring a cloth to clean your DSLR’s lenses on a regular basis, particularly if you want to take a lot of photos and timelapses over an extended amount of time.
3. When you travel up here, you don’t have to take water or food. Numerous food vendors offer South Indian and other well-liked snacks, drinks, ice cream, and juices.
4. You must take frequent bio breaks if you are dehydrated in order to endure the altitude. You can feel secure knowing that there are public restrooms close to Attukal Falls.
5. Hike up the hills and get a close-up look at Attukad if you want to do more than just observe these falls from a distance.
6. If you are taking the tour on foot, you may have to cross a wooden bridge on your route to the waterfalls. The trail gets quite slick and difficult to follow during the rainy season. To prevent you from tripping, make sure your shoes have adequate traction.
7. A delightful surprise awaits you if you choose to walk your way to the falls! The path winds through densely forested areas that protect you from the monsoon rains as well as the scorching summer sun.
Everyone is welcome to observe the well-known Attukal Waterfalls in Munnar for free. However, it can cost up to INR 100 per person for a guided excursion that takes you to these falls. Although the falls are naturally occurring and always flowing, the public typically views them between the hours of 10 AM and 6 PM.
Visit these waterfalls during the monsoon season, when the amount of water increases as a result of the rainfall, to get the most out of your vacation. The falls’ capacity decreases in the summer, drawing fewer visitors to a generally well-liked tourist destination.
