Architecture of Hazara Ram Temple

The Hazara Rama Temple features traditional Vijayanagara Dynasty Indian architecture. The quadrilateral temple structure is surrounded by a large green courtyard. The building’s granite exterior is adorned with elaborate carvings of Lord Rama’s many incarnations and chapters from the Ramayana. It faces east and has a flat roof with pillars.

A Rangamandapa, which is composed of towering, dark-coloured stone pillars that support statues of various Hindu gods and goddesses, is reached when one passes past the entrance. The southern, northern, and western sections of the temple complex can be reached via the Rangamandapa’s three entrances. On the western side of the structure sits the sanctum of Lord Rama.

The temple’s outside walls are decorated with horizontal bands that have carved images of horses, elephants, Lord Krishna, Ganesha, and numerous other legendary figures. In certain parts, troops, attendants, and Dasara celebrations are seen, along with women dancing to relive the festival spirit.

An altar to Goddess Sita is located at a modest shrine north of the sanctum sanctorum. This shrine’s elaborate bas-relief work is exquisitely decorated. This is the Kalyana Madapa, located northeast of the temple complex. Along with the main hall, or Mahamandapa, the complex also has a dancing hall, a vestibule, and beautiful pavements supported by many pillars.
