The Garjiya Devi Temple, situated on a massive rock in the middle of the Kosi River, is devoted to one of Goddess Parvati’s incarnations. It is one of the most well-known temples in the area and located 13 kilometres from Ramnagar. The gods Baba Bhairon, Lord Shiva, Lord Ganesha, and Goddess Saraswati also call it home. Inside the temple is a black granite statue of Lakshmi Narayan from the ninth century.
On Karthik Poornima, the fifteenth day of the Hindu calendar month of Karthik (November–December), a sizable fair is held in the temple. With the exception of the monsoon season, when the Kosi River dangerously surges up, it is open to travellers all year round.
